SENSE ISLAND – Sarushima Dark Museum 2022
Participated as TPR in “Sense Island – Sarushima Dark Museum 2022”, an art festival set on Sarushima, the largest natural island in Tokyo Bay. Sense Island is a unique art festival in which participants land on the island, normally off-limits at night, after sunset and walk through the forest at night to view artworks, relying on a small flashlight with a cell phone enclosed. In the production process, the artists were guided by Yokosuka City Hall staff on a city walk to learn about the origins and changes of the city from before the opening of the country to the postwar period, and also held study sessions with a collection of photographs and critiques on Yokosuka, the “city of photography.” 8 artists spent about 3 months in Yokosuka and Sarushima while continuing their research from multiple perspectives to Yokosuka and Sarushima.
