SENSE ISLAND 2023
Tokyo Photographic Research presented the series “INDIVIDUAL ECHOES” at “SENSE ISLAND 2023.” An artist who lived in Yokosuka during childhood reconnects with the people living in the city now, Aims for communication through the acquisition of military terms in a bar where jazz flows, Viewing the Kasuga Shrine, which once existed on Sarushima, from the current location, Transforming inaudible low-frequency and radio waves into sounds that resonate on the island, Peering into the bottom of the spring water in Hashirimizu, And scanning the traces engraved on the surface of the washed-up piece of glass, The images and sounds born from the artists’ research attempt to resonate from the past to the present and future through individual and complex experiences, providing an opportunity to perceive Yokosuka’s history and present from a new perspective.
