YAMAMOTO HANA
Short-sight 365
I began to think that the everyday act of taking large numbers of photos with a smartphone might be closely related to my own nearsightedness. Earlier this year, I applied a privacy film to the window in my bathtub, which unexpectedly changed how I saw the familiar view outside. By intentionally obscuring what had always been visible, I experienced a clearer sense of the urge to “document something even if it serves no immediate purpose.”
This experience became the foundation for this work, which consists of four studies that reflect that moment and attempt to explore its implications.
