KAWAHARA TAKANORI
Portrait
This series captures people the artist encountered in Yokosuka during childhood—figures from Dobuita Street and Wakamatsu Market, friends still living in the area, and local restaurant owners. The original photographs, once taken, felt oddly raw and distant from the artist’s personal image of Yokosuka. However, upon visiting the “Umi-tsuri Park,” a place tied to cherished memories, the artist felt compelled to immerse the prints in seawater collected from Yokosuka. Rephotographing them during this process brought forth a fusion of nostalgia and remembrance, connecting the images with the personal texture of memory.
