Based on fieldwork conducted in Yokosuka, this work captures the postwar landscape of reclaimed land that defines much of the city’s waterfront.
Many areas stretching from Yokosuka-Chuo, including the city hall and along the coast, were developed as reclaimed land and have since evolved into the district known as Heisei-cho—a landscape where old and new buildings coexist.
Known as a naval port city, Yokosuka has long attracted the attention of photographers.
However, the modern scenery of Heisei-cho stands somewhat apart from the more widely recognized imagery of the city.
Dub presents the contemporary Yokosuka landscape by dividing it into multiple visual grids.
Through this structure, the work seeks to reconstruct the postwar cityscape and to reexamine its ongoing transformation, drawing from accumulated geographic records embedded in Yokosuka’s long and layered history.
